You agree to the terms of service below, and the Terms of Use for Substack, the technology provider.

Mary Jo Sharp’s Substack is a place to encounter the ideas of the author, who values empathy, education, and exploration of thought. This is not a one-stop shopping service for all things Christian theology. In other words, this Substack is not here to “give” you a theology. It rather exists as an exploration of the experiential and theoretical interests of the author. With this understanding, please note that the author will not provide a debate-style engagement with the comments on her writing. Further, should comments become unnecessarily derogatory1 towards the author or other commenters, the author retains the right to remove the subscriber from this subscription. Again, this is due to the circumstance that the author is not providing a debate-style forum, but rather attempting to create an educational and explorational environment.

Author will determine the qualifications for “unnecessarily derogatory” in a case-by-case manner, but will use Scripture as the foundational ethic for charitable engagement. “Love your neighbor as yourself” (Mark 12:31, Romans 13:9, Galatians 5:14, James 2:8) and “Do not speak evil against one another, brothers,” (James 4:11), and “If anyone thinks he is religious and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this person's religion is worthless.” (James 1:26) Balanced and charitable commentary is the expectation.
